Penny Pritzker's '81 Monumental Gift Provides the Department of Economics A Space to Grow

Penny Pritzker '81, former U.S. Secretary of Commerce from 2013-2017, has made a $100 million dollar gift to the University.  The gift is in support of creating a new home for the department, allowing for innovation in teaching and research by the faculty, graduate and undergraduate students.

With the new home, there will be more space for collboration amongst the faculty and students, allowing for more innovation as the department continues to take on global issues.

Professor Jim Stock Named Harvard's First Vice Provost for Climate and Sustainability

Professor Jim Stock, Harold Hitchings Burbank Professor of Political Economy, has been named to the newly created position of Vice Provost and Sustainability.  Reporting directly to the Vice Provost office, Professor Stock's role will focus on guiding Harvard's strategies for climate research and its global impact.
