We are delighted to note that two of our former Ph.D. students (both also Harvard College undergraduates) were recognized as MacArthur Fellows in 2021 . Marcella Alsan, who teaches at the Harvard Kennedy School has done pioneering work on the causes, impact, and history of health disparities by race. Jesse Shapiro, who teaches at Brown University, has made significant contributions across a broad range of fields, but is particularly known for his path-breaking work on the economics of the media.
