Harvard Economics Ranked #1 in 2012!

(September 11, 2012) The Harvard University Department of Economics received the distinction of being named the top-ranked school on the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) list of best programs in Business/Economics. The study was conducted by the Center for World-Class Universities at Shanghai Jiao Tong University in Shanghai, China. In addition to the top-ranking in Economics, Harvard also remained the top-ranked school overall, across all programs, for the tenth year in a row.

The Top 10 universities are: Harvard, Stanford, MIT, Berkeley, University of Cambridge, Caltech, Princeton, Columbia, University of Chicago, and Oxford.

Since 2003, ARWU has been presenting the world top 500 universities based on a set of objective indicators and third-party data. ARWU uses distinct objective indicators to rank universities including the number of Highly Cited researchers and the number of alumni and faculty winning Nobel Prizes and Field Medals. Over 1200 universities are ranked annually and the best 500 are published.
