Professor David Laibson Begins Term as Chair of the Economics Department

David Laibson recently began his term as the new chair of the Harvard Economics Department in July 2015.

Professor Laibson follows Greg Mankiw who had served as chair of the department since 2012.

Other recent chairs of the Department included Professors John Campbell 2009-2012 and James Stock 2006-2009.

David Laibson is the Robert I. Goldman Professor of Economics and Chair of the Department of Economics at Harvard University. Laibson is also a member of the National Bureau of Economic Research, where he is Research Associate in the Asset Pricing, Economic Fluctuations, and Aging Working Groups. Laibson’s research focuses on the topic of behavioral economics, and he leads Harvard University’s Foundations of Human Behavior Initiative.
